19th June Blog Post

Hey everyone! I haven’t posted anything here in a while, since I’ve been busy with many things over this lockdown! And that mostly involves improving my own skill at programming!
Within the time I’ve been away, I’ve published a game to the google playstore, and I’ve entered a Gamejam, and of course, studying lots!
Don’t worry, I haven’t left this game behind, I’m currently coming up with concept ideas and plans on how I’m going to tackle the combat in this game, since I know I want to go for a hack-and-slash style game.
I’ve come up with a pretty good concept idea I think, but I won’t be telling you yet until I come up with a prototype which I like!
I’ll be trying something new and ambitious with this combat system, and It’s going to be much different from other hack and slash games, but similar in some ways!
But I think you’ll all love it!

May 25th Blog Post

Hi everyone! I know it has been a long time since I have made any updates, but trust me, I am making progress with the game. Right now I am working with making a 3D model for a character, like stated in my previous post, I wanted to go for a N64-Style for the model, so I began modelling a base model inspired by Link’s OOT geometry.

Along with doing that I’ve also been studying C++, since I know C# I wanted to expand on what I know, and hopefully with learning C++ I can try out making some prototypes on Unreal Engine as well as Unity, just so I can try out lots of different things before I commit to something final!

May 18th Blog Post

I’ve been thinking about my ability as a 3D modeller, I am not amazing at 3D modelling, but I would love to keep going to improve my skills, so I decided, the main human character which I’m making for the game I’ll model myself, it most likely won’t look amazing, or realistic, I think I would be able to go for a N64/PS1 style model for the main character, so it would fit better with the dragon.
It most likely would change at a later date, but I’m going to challenge myself with making this 3D model to improve my skills as a 3D modeller.
I began the concept designs for the main character, just to get an idea of how I want her to look, this probably isn’t the final design though, what do you think?

I’m not sure of what colour scheme yet, and I don’t even know why I’ve done the drawings in this style if I’m going to be modelling it in very low poly! Let me know what you think about this.

May 16th Official Alpha Launch

Today, I’m happy to launch the first Alpha build of my game for the public to play! I really hope you all enjoy playing this game as much as I loved making it! Below is a short trailer of my game!

I’ve added in a few different things throughout this week to make the game more accessible to people, and to make the game easier to play for people who are newcomers to the game.
If you press ESC whilst playing the game, you can view the controls, these are very useful333 to understand since there is 3 different ways you can control the dragon, for beginners, I recommend the mouse controls or controller controls, since I feel like the keyboard controls are a lot more stiff, but you can play however you please!
There’s nothing you need to do to change over from using one control scheme to the other, so maybe you could try all of them to see which is the most comfortable!
(To view the different controls in the pause menu, simply click on the buttons at the top)

I would also really appreciate feedback, I would love to hear what you think I should add to my game, or what you think I could do better! You can leave the feedback either in the comments of this blog, or in the comments of my Itch.IO Ordos download page, or even on my social media!

To download my game, all you have to do is head on over to the download tab on this page and follow the link onto my itch page, on the bottom of that page is a download link https://amy-elliott.itch.io/ordos-order-chaos

May 12th First Blog Post

Hello! This is the first blog post I’m making to update everyone on how the development of my game is going, and how I’m going to communicate with everyone through these blogs.
Firstly, if you don’t know anything about this game yet, please visit the About page.

2Now I’ve been very hesitant with making this blog page for my game, but I’m going to do it anyway, truth is I’ve always wanted to make a development blog for the games I make which the public can see and follow along with, so they can see the changes my game makes over time.
So far, my game is going really well, I’m prepared to launch an alpha build for people to play around in, I have a release date for the first alpha launch which will be on Saturday 16th May, so please stick around until then so you can have a go! The reason why it isn’t today is because I’m just making some small changes so I can launch the alpha of the game with confidence!
